This past week I have found a new love and joy in my life and it came from the back aisle of the C-store. Ohio Homegrown popcorn is one of the popcorn brands that the C-store carries and it’s one of my go-to snacks when I go to the C-store or eat the 4th meal at Kittredge. However with it being April and my Flex dollars are running low due to me buying excessive bags of popcorn every time I enter the building I need to make the hard decision to only buy one back instead of several. But what bag should I decide to go with for the rest of the semester? Today I will tell you what is objectively the best Homegrown popcorn flavor.
Before I say what are some of the best flavors are I am just going to say what is objectively the worst flavor of homegrown and why it’s Chicago Mix. I do not know why Chicago must be represented in cheese and Carmel-filled bags of mistakes. This flavor should not exist and I will not dignify it with a picture. This is like pineapples on pizza all over again or enjoying anything with blue cheese. Cheese and Caramel should not be together and I will die on that hill. Now on to my 3rd most favorite flavor of Home Grown and its three cheese ranch.
Three cheese ranch satisfies my midwestern tastebuds. Anything with cheese and or ranch has my automatic attention. It has that cheesy popcorn flavor that I like while with the added flavor of the ranch that I love. However why this is not number one or even 2 for that matter is because I am definitely into sweet popcorn-like caramel corn. I have salty popcorn all the time and I love it. However, I don’t usually get to enjoy it as much when I am at home so I try to enjoy some as much as I can when I am here at school.
There is honestly nothing better than classic caramel corn. Well, there is but there are a lot of factors to why I love caramel corn so much than regular, salted, and cheese popcorn put together. It has a satisfying crunch and mouthfeel, sweetness, and flavor, and it’s versatile for whatever season it is. It’s just a good all-around snack for the whole year. I can eat caramel corn in the summer, fall, winter, and spring. And it can be enjoyed on any US holiday as well and makes for a good gift. However, me having a sweet tooth like mine classic caramel can only take me so far and I was okay with being complacent for a while until I tried Buckeye Blitz.
This is it right here, this is hands down the best flavor of homegrown. Buckeye Blitz has everything for me in what makes good candied popcorn and just popcorn in general. Nothing goes together better than caramel popcorn with peanut butter and chocolate shell. It has a good mouth feel that is crunchy with a smoothness to it as well which makes it one of its best flavors. I practically ate the whole bag before writing this post it is that good of a flavor.
