When it comes to finding an easy snack to grab and get to grubbing on, my go to are chips. I’m not too picky in terms of chips, but the brand truly does matter. It can be argued that the brand doesn’t necessarily matter that much, but I’m here to tell you today what the best chip brands are and what makes them stand out from the rest.

One of my favorite brands of chips is Lay’s chips because they not only provide a wide range of flavors, but they also provide great tasting chips as well. While there are a ton of pros with Lay’s chips, let me talk about the amount of air in the bag. Firstly, while there isn’t necessarily anything wrong with classic chips, I would much prefer chips that have the ridges in them and provide more of a crunch. Nowadays with prices on nearly everything rising, I’m sure I’m not the only one who is annoyed with paying even more money for air in a chip bag. A snack company can advertise some of the greatest snacks ever, but providing less of a product than what is actually being paid for is quite annoying.

While my largest hit on Lay’s chips are the amount of air in the bag, let me tell you about Pringles and how amazing they are. Pringles are very comparable to Lay’s chips, providing classic styled chips in many different flavors. While coming in multiple different flavors similar to Lay’s, Pringles turns it up to a whole different level by cleverly packaging their chips in a vertical tube, to decrease the amount of air in a container. While I really love their packaging design for Pringles, I also dislike it. When I’m trying to finish off the container, there are many times where I cannot reach my fat hands towards the bottom to grab one of the last chips and most of the times, end up giving up on even trying to grab the last chip. While I love the packaging design for Pringles, I still believe that Lay’s holds the edge.

When it comes to the ultimate chip, my award goes to none other than Ruffles. Like I stated earlier, Lay’s nor Pringles typically offer wavy chips, or chips that are meant for dipping. I personally prefer the crunchy chips over classic solely due to the purpose of the extra crunch. Not only are you provided with more flavor in your chips, but because they’re wavy styled, you have even more opportunities to add more flavor to your chips with chip dip. Unfortunately, Ruffles doesn’t have the packaging engineers that Pringles do and still contain quite a bit of air in their packaging. While offering nearly every flavor that Pringles and Lay’s do, Ruffles takes the crown as the top-dog for the best chip brand.

Macleod’s convenience store is a place that all of us at The College of Wooster go to get some nice snacks without having to travel off-campus. Some of us play it safe and only get the things we know are amazing. Today, I’m going to give you the rundown on some low-key and amazing snacks.

For those of you who cannot go without the flavor of something sweet, but worry about weight or other health issues the Chuckanut Bay cheesecake is for you. Coming in New York cheesecake and strawberry cheesecake flavors, they taste literally beyond amazing and are much smaller than a traditional piece of cheesecake while still delivering mouth-watering flavor. Not only is their cheesecake amazing, but it’s pretty cheap as well only ringing up at around $2.50.

One of my favorite comfort foods growing up was chicken nuggets and not much has changed since. The Applegate Natural chicken nuggets that the C-Store offers taste exactly like regular chicken nuggets, while being gluten free. I was a bit skeptical to buy them at first just because I would always see so many boxes in the freezer and I just thought they were trash so nobody bought them, but I’m happy to say I’m incorrect.

The third and final underrated food goodie that McLeod has are the HelluvaGood potato chips. I knew that HelluvaGood created some amazing potato chip dip, but never just potato chips. Might I say that their chips taste exactly like their dip regardless of the flavor. My favorite are the French Onion flavored chips ones, but like stated earlier, you cannot go wrong with the whatever flavor you decide to purchase.

For years, the two powerhouses of fast food, McDonald’s and Burger King, have been at war to determine the king of fast-food. While they both have rather similar food, everybody has a some sort of preference. I’ll admit that I personally prefer McDonald’s, however I’m here today to put this never-ending battle to rest between the two juggernauts of fast-food.

When it comes to McDonald’s, they use to run all day breakfast but stopped recently and instead added a few other things to their breakfast menu. Like I stated earlier, McDonald’s in my opinion triumphs Burger King when it comes to their deals. My go to at McDonald’s is a McChicken with no lettuce, add cheese, and bacon with a large. While the regular McChicken is on their value menu, adding the bacon and cheese obviously makes it more expensive. I do not one bit regret the $3 I drop on a chicken sandwich, I’d do it in a heartbeat once again. The menu at McDonald’s, is nearly identical to Burger King’s and doesn’t offer much else outside of their seasonal drinks. The Shamrock Shake and holiday drinks are a large reason as to why they receive significantly more business during those period.

Burger King offers to what some consider garbage, but too that I say, “Shut up”. Understandably, not everybody enjoys Burger King and should never be expected with any food establishment. I actually like their food quite a bit, especially their Bacon King, which is just a double cheese burger with cheese and bacon. A big positive that Burger King holds over Ronald “the clown” McDonald is that their burger are larger and you truly get the bang for your buck. A lot of people tend to give Burger King a terrible wrap, but at the end of the day offers a very similar experience to that of McDonald’s.

When it comes to the battle between the Clown and The King, we may never have an answer to whom rules supreme. However I can leave you with this, just because you prefer one over the other doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try the other as they both excel in certain categories individually and both offer great deals.

At the College of Wooster, one thing you’ll sadly never get to enjoy consistently is the taste of home cooking. While the food on campus is average at best, it’s still possible to make do. Regardless, nothing beats gathering around with family and eating some amazing food. Unfortunately for most of us, we’re stuck in the middle of Ohio for Easter and won’t be able to enjoy the luxury of home cooked meals. Today, I’m going to talk about some of the food that my grandma said she was making for Easter, even though she’s aware I won’t be home.

The first thing my grandma told me she was making was the Easter ham. Now to many a ham may not seem like much, but at the same time a home cooked ham is a thousand times better than anything cooked at Lowry regardless who cooked it. For whatever reason, the way my grandma cooks her ham truly makes me appreciate her and her amazing cooking. It’s never undercooked, never overcooked, and most importantly taste amazing.

My grandmother never fails to deliver on food, no matter what it is. While some may not agree with me, I have encountered countless individuals who flat out cannot cook, especially deviled eggs. I know that not everybody loves deviled eggs, but I only like them when somebody doesn’t mess them up. Deviled eggs in-particular are a food a food that I associate with family gatherings because they’er always at one!

The absolute best thing that I have ever tasted in the world is my grandma’s black bottom pie. However, the issue with my grandma is she used to only ever make it for Thanksgiving until one year instead of her trying to give me money, I simply asked for a black bottom pie. It took quite a bit of convincing, but after awhile I got my pie for my. birthday. If that alone doesn’t tell you how great something taste, I’m not to sure what else to say to you and frankly your opinion on food is terrible. Black bottom pie contains so many flavors all at once such as chocolate, whipped cream, and a graham cracker crust. The pie literally melts in your mouth and is easily my favorite food of all time, no questions asked.
